Textiles need to have appropriate preparation before they can be safely exhibited. This preparation may include creating custom mounts, and using appropriate exhibition methods. Custom mounts ensure that the textile will not be damaged while on exhibit. Mounts are designed to evenly support the textile in a visually pleasing way. Mounts may include custom carved mannequins, backboards or 3-D forms for framing, or other original made supports that fit the textile (such as the hat example given earlier). When working with other vendors, I assure that appropriate exhibition methods are used. These methods include using UV glass in frames or UV filters on lights, shadow boxes, slant boards, and T-stands.
